Vide MHA's O.M. No. 25022/28/2020-F.I dated 30.03.2021, e-Visa under the following categories viz. e-Business Visa, e-Medical Visa, e-Medical Attendant Visa and e-Conference Visa has been restored with immediate effect. List of countries whose nationals are eligible for e-Visa facility.
Who Can Apply For Indian Medical Visa?
A medical Visa is issued for patients seeking medical treatment in reputed, specialized hospitals or treatment centers in India. The foremost requisite to be eligible for a medical visa is that the hospital/treatment center you wish to seek medical treatment has to be approved by The Government of India.
Up to two blood relatives are allowed to accompany the patient and their Visas are different from that of the patients. They have to apply for a Medical Attended Visa (MED X), which has the same validity as that of the patient’s.
Applicant(patient) must have recommendations or references for specialized treatment on the basis of Preliminary medical checkup and treatment from the Medical experts of origin/residence country. This can be obtained from the hospital that the applicant(patient) got treated in origin/residence country. Official documents of recommendation from the Doctors there has to be obtained.
Not more than two attends shall be issued a Visa and they both need to be blood relatives of the applicant(patient)
So an applicant holding a valid passport from their country and who has a medical condition clinically reported and acknowledged by a reputed Medical institution can apply for a Medical visa in India.
What medical conditions are eligible for an Indian Visa?
The treatment should be significant in nature, such as:
· Patients seeking Ayurveda treatment.
· Neurosurgery
· Heart surgery
· Organ transplant
· Joint replacement
· Gene therapy
· Plastic surgery
· Renal problems
· Congenital disorders
· Radio-Therapy
For e-Medical, e-Medical Attendant and e-Conference visa, Applicants of the eligible countries/territories may apply online minimum 4 days in advance of the date of arrival with a window of 120 days. Example: If you are applying on 1st Sept then applicant can select arrival date from 5th Sept to 2nd Jan
Documents Required For Medical Visa To India
· Passport with 6 month validity
· Recent Passport size photographs
· Photo copy of passport
· Copy of online Visa application form
· Proof of Residential Address
· Recommendation from home country doctor to visit particular specialized medical center for treatment
· Medical documents of the treatments that are done
· Passport copy of attendant (for Attendant visas)
· Proof of relationship with attendant (for Attendant visas)
The documents required for completing the eVisa application is indicated against each type of eVisa. Please keep all these documents ready at hand before beginning to fill your eVisa application. All documents including Business cards, Invitation letters etc. must be in English language, failing which the application would be liable for rejection. The entire process may take 10 to 15 minutes to complete the application and make the payment.
Applicants must be fill eVisa application himself/herself and give correct information in each column and take responsibility for the correctness of information provided.

Any letter of invitation if applicable from indian parties which wish you conduct the business (optional).
In the context of COVID-19, Government of India is following point of entry procedures for identifying International travellers, particularly at-risk travellers to India through multi-pronged strategy of thermal screening and testing.
1. Original passport valid for a minimum of 6 months and having at least 3 blank visa pages.
2. A photocopy of the data page of the passport.
3. Two passport size photographs (2X2 inch). Photos should be glued to the form: the first on page 1 in the box provided and the second on the bottom right hand corner of page 2.
4. An Indian Government visa application form duly filled in online.
The application form for Regular/Paper visa can be found on the official website www.indianvisaonline.gov.in .
Your form should be signed in the box under the photograph on page 1.
This signature should match the signature on your passport.
You should validate the data on your form and accept the declaration by signing at the bottom of page 2
LIST OF ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS
1. Letter from the hospital/doctor in France attesting the requirement for treatment in India.
2. Letter from the hospital/institution confirming the applicants admission for medical treatment.
